“Hey, hey, hey, beautiful people! Welcome back to SelfCare Voyage, the channel guiding you on your Ayurvedic Hair Care journey and Wellness Travel to help you become the best versions of yourself. Today, we’re diving deep into the world of kinky, coily, and curly hair. If you’ve ever wondered why your hair seems stuck at a certain length, you’re in the right place! But before we get into it, make sure you hit that ‘Subscribe’ button and ring the bell so you never miss an update from us.

Are you ready? Let’s go!”

“First things first, let’s debunk a myth. Your hair IS growing, okay? Unless you’re dealing with severe malnutrition or a medical condition affecting your hair, those strands are sprouting like a garden in spring! On average, hair grows about half an inch to two inches a month. The real issue? Retaining that length, honey!”

“So, why is kinky, coily, and curly hair so prone to dryness and breakage? It’s all about the science, baby! Our hair has a lower water content and less sebum distribution along the hair shaft. These features make our hair thirsty—like, ‘I just ran a marathon’ thirsty!”

“And get this, the thickness of our hair isn’t uniform. It’s like a rollercoaster, thick at some points and thin at others. These thin points? They’re the weak spots, the Achilles’ heel of your hair! When your hair is dry, these weak points are more likely to snap under tension. So, combing your natural hair? It’s like navigating a minefield!”

“Now, let’s talk about the culprits that can worsen this situation. Chemical relaxers, intense heat, and drying shampoos are like the villains in your hair’s life story. They rearrange, weaken, and strip your hair of its natural oils. And don’t even get me started on sulfates and certain silicones in shampoos and conditioners. They’re like the frenemies of your hair—seemingly helpful but diabolically harmful!”

“Listen up because this is your homework. Check the labels of your hair care products. Avoid ingredients that block moisture and cause residue buildup. I’m talking about heavy silicones, sulfates, and certain protein treatments. Yes, you heard me right; even protein can be too much of a good thing!”

I want to admonish you to never allow your hair to become dry and brittle, remoisturize between wash days.

“Last but not least, protect your hair, queens! Cotton pillowcases? Swap ’em for silk. Braids and Dreadlocks? Make sure they’re not too tight or too long. Shoulder length is advisable; otherwise, you will have missing hair from your edges. In addition, do not keep your braided styles longer than two months. Your hair needs to breathe, just like you!” And don’t forget to moisturize them and seal that moisture with an oil.

“Whew! That was a lot, but trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg. In my next video, I’ll be sharing a weekly routine that you can tailor to your lifestyle and hair needs. So, if you want long, luscious locks, you better stay tuned for my next video where I will share a hair care routine you can tailor to your hair type and needs!”
